Resources Available to Members of Boston University
Publishing Advice
As Director of Publications at the Editorial Institute,
Frances Whistler
is available for consultation about publishing matters generally. If any member of the University
would like advice on how to submit a publishing proposal, how to clear permissions, dealing with
prospective publishers, and so forth, she will be glad to offer any assistance she can.
Funding for Editorial Projects within BU - Mellon
Foundation Award
While the principal part of the Award was allocated to the
James Fitzjames Stephen Edition
and the work of the Editorial Institute, the spending-plan agreed with the Mellon Foundation
included some money to help individual editorial enterprises within the University at large.
Since the outset of the Award period, in 2004, we have been delighted to have been able to
assist Faculty and students engaged in various kinds of editing work, in subject-areas ranging
from musicology to classical studies, philosophy of science, English and German literature,
historiography, and the cataloging of literary manuscripts.
Please note that the funding for such editorial projects is now fully committed for the
remainder of the grant period, so - with regret - we will not now be able to meet
further requests for financial assistance of this kind.
