12/22/05 Answers v1 Final Exam
Answers v2 Final Exam
Your performance
12/14/05 Last year's final exam is available here.  Please use it as a sample final for this year. The answers are available here. The coverage of this year's exam will not be exactly the same, but it will be close.  Also, this year's exam will have fewer multiple-choice questions and more problems.
12/13/05 You may download all slides for the course: Property Rights, Property Conflicts, Bargaining and Game Theory and Contracts. A sample final exam will soon be available.
12/6/05
The second midterm exam with its (revised) answers marked can be found here: Midterm 2 Version 1, Midterm 2 Version 2. The following changes were made in the way the exam was scored:

Q1a) Top-Left: -8k or -10k was counted as correct.
Q1a) Top-Right: -8k or -10k or 2k was counted as correct.
Q2 the dissenters... counted as correct for either answer.
Q6 imprisonment gets... now counted as correct if crossed out.

Your adjusted score is listed here.

11/16/05 Here is a sample exam (without answers) for Midterm 2.  Here are the answers. Keep in mind that the material in the sample exam does not correspond exactly to the material to be covered in the real exam.
11/14/05 More notes, including those on limited use of eminent domain, are available today: Property Conflicts, Bargaining and Game Theory. This is the US Supreme Court Opinion on eminent domain: KELO et al. v. CITY OF NEW LONDON et al.
11/10/05 Midterm II is scheduled for Friday, November 18.
11/10/05 The Course Schedule has been revised AGAIN.  Please check it now.  You may also download my latest slides: Property Rights and Property Conflicts, Bargaining and Game Theory.
10/28/05 I've decided that several of the multiple-choice questions on Midterm 1 were unfair.
Question: "strong system of property rights." No points will be subtracted for the following parts:
  -reduce social unrest.
  -limit the practice of bribery.
Question: "frequent flyer." No points will be subtracted on any part.  This means that students might gain up to 21 points.

The exam with its answers marked can be found here: Midterm 1 Version 1, Midterm 1 Version 2.

Your revised score is listed here.

10/10/05 The EC337 Midterm 1 Practice Exam is located here.  My answers for the practice exam are located hereAdvice: Sit down and allow yourself 45 minutes to take the practice exam.  Do not look at the answers until you have taken the exam and tried your best to find errors.
10/5/05 Course Notes, Course Schedule and Problems have been revised.  Please check them now.
9/21/05 Read the CTEA Supreme Court decision.
9/19/05 Problems 7 and 8 are changed. Check the problem list.
9/10/05 The numbers in the problem assignments refer to the problem list.
9/5/05 Your final exam is scheduled for Tuesday, December 20, from 9:00 to 11:00 amIf you intend to travel home by air at the end of the semester, please be careful to reserve seats only for flights scheduled after your final exams are completed.  Make your reservations in September, because seats are scarce for flights during the Christmas Holidays.  No one will be permitted to take the final examination early.  I never make exceptions to this rule.
9/5/05 Please read the Course Information page.
8/27/05 Dear EC 337 Students: This semester we will use only one textbook: Richard Posner, The Economic Analysis of Law, 6th Edition.

Dear Students,

Although I may be reached by phone at 617-353-3299, I would appreciate it if you would send email to me instead. Email is less disruptive than a phone call, and email gives me a permanent record of your message. My email address is manove@bu.edu, but be sure to include EC337 somewhere on the subject line.  I try to check my email at least every two or three hours, except in the middle of the night, and I will try answer your questions as soon as I can. Of course, for urgent matters, do feel free to phone me.
