Importance of Knowing Formula
During this summer I went to interview for a job at Lazard, which is an Investment bank in New York City. So I prepared for the interview by learning about their core business which ranged from mergers, acquisitions divestitures to financial and strategic advice. So I went to the city dressed and prepared for every piece of knowledge that I could possibly need. I went in and talked to the first person, things went well. Then I talked to the next person. The guy asked what my major in college is and I told him economics. Then he asked if I knew the equation for present value. I was rather caught off guard and couldn’t remember. He proceeded to say that it was a very basic and important part of economics. Needless to say I didn’t end up getting the job.
