How is Materials Science Related to ECE?

Many Electrical Engineers work in the area of Materials Science to understand the fundamentals of materials and their physical properties. For example, an Electrical Engineer may use solid state theory to develop  the next generation of super-efficient lighting,  a new breed of nano-transistors, or  superconductors for use in Green Energy applications.

Is ECE right for me?
