Mission Statement

UndergraduatesThe mission of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) is:

  • To educate our students to meet high standards of excellence in electrical and computer engineering in preparation for professional careers and advanced studies.
  • To create and disseminate new knowledge through basic and applied research in electrical and computer engineering.
  • To serve as a resource of electrical and computer engineering expertise at the local, regional, and national levels.

Educational Objectives

The undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering (EE) and Computer Engineering (CE) have as educational objectives that several years after graduation students are expected to:

  1. Build a career path with informed choices about its EE/CE aspects.
  2. Be competitive in the EE/CE job market.
  3. Contribute to the well-being of the profession/community.

In addition, our graduates are expected to pursue one or more of the following:

  1. Graduate education in engineering or allied fields.
  2. Breadth of responsibilities in a small company environment.
  3. Specialized expertise within a large company environment.
  4. Sales/Marketing positions in technology companies.
  5. Basic and applied research.
  6. Applications in other professions, such as medicine and law.
