Current Research

Steve Raciti’s research explores biogeochemistry and ecology in the context of urbanization and global change. Recent projects have looked at patterns of land use and vegetation across urban-to-rural gradients, city and county scale CO2 budgets, local-scale opportunities to mitigate CO2 emissions (ranging from forest carbon sequestration to alternative energy technologies), carbon and nitrogen fluxes from urban soils and vegetation, and controls on nitrate production, nitrate availability, and denitrification in residential ecosystems. His work is centered on the Boston ULTRA-Ex and Baltimore Ecosystem Study LTER sites.
