Carbon Research Laboratory

The Hutyra Research Laboratory focuses on measurements of atmospheric and terrestrial carbon pools and fluxes. The laboratory space includes 400 square feet of laboratory bench space for the assembly of electronics, building and testing of integrated micrometeorological systems, instrument calibration, and processing of biological samples. In-lab equipment includes infrared and cavity ring down gas analyzers (CO2, CH4, and H2O), calibration standard tanks, balances, an oven, a refrigerator, GPS, tools, and field equipment for biometric measurements. In addition to this traditional lab space, the Hutyra Group has also established atmospheric mixing ratio and meteorological measurements on the roof of the College of Arts & Sciences, using the building itself as a laboratory.
