Earth & Environment Professor Duncan FitzGerald will be heading to the coast of Louisiana this coming weekend to lead a group of scientists and students from the University of New Orleans and elsewhere on a three day long excursion.

From Friday to Sunday, participants will stay in rented fish camps on Grand Isle where a flotilla of boats will shuttle them to and from the barrier islands and wetlands.

During their stay, FitzGerald and participants will deal with the coastal processes, coastal geomorphology, tidal inlet hydraulics, and land loss issues concerning the Louisiana barrier coast. FitzGerald and his group have assembled a series of vibra-cores to show the group vertical sections from a variety of coastal environments. The group will also discuss Hurricane impacts during their trip.
