Boston University
Division of Religion and Theological Studies
(DRTS)
145 Bay State Rd., Boston, MA 02215
T: 617-353-4427
E: drts@bu.edu
Although a visit to the Division is not
necessary, it is often helpful in decision-making
as applicants consider the graduate study
of religion. We are happy to welcome prospective
students to the Department; significant
others, family, and friends are also welcome
to visit with you. Please visit our link
suggesting hotel options for staying in
Boston, Places to Stay.
To make the best use of your time while
here, we suggest you first look over the
Areas of Specialization we offer on our
webpage, found by clicking the link on
the left. There you will find specific
programs listed with the names of professors
who coordinate those programs. By getting
an idea of which area you are interested
in, you can plan to meet key professors
in the department and perhaps sit in on
a class, as your time allows and with the
permission of the professor teaching. To
coordinate this, it is best to email the
professor(s) directly – emails are
listed on the website.
You may also want to visit with our Admissions
director while you are visiting to ask specific
questions about the admissions process,
financial aid, and any general questions
about attending the DRTS. This can be scheduled
by emailing the person handling admissions,
found on the Admissions tab of our website,
also found on the left.
You are welcome to visit the School any
time the University is open. General information
about visiting BU can be found at www.bu.edu/visit.
The University is closed at night, on weekends,
for all national holidays, and between
Christmas Eve Day and New Year’s Day. The University
is open during the summer; however, the
School’s summer classes (from May
to July) are very limited, and there
are no classes offered by the School
from July 4 through Labor Day.
