Rediscovering the String Trio

  • Starts: 3:30 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2015
The Vivaldi Project, Elizabeth Field, violin, Allison Edberg Nyquist, violin and viola, and Stephanie Vial, cello performing on period instruments, will present rarely performed and mostly unknown string trios from the Classical Period: works by C.A. Campioni, Luigi Boccherini, Giussepe Cambini, Christian Cannabich, and Felice Giardini. Largely ignored by musicians and audiences for over 200 years, these wonderful works contribute to the narrative of the chamber music canon. The Vivaldi Project Trio, explores the delightful textures and sonorities of a set of mostly unknown classical and early romantic works—the direct descendants of the baroque trio sonata.
