CFA presents A DOLL HOUSE

  • Starts: 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013
Henrik Ibsen's A DOLL HOUSE shocked the world in 1879 with its story about a woman who judges her need to discover herself as a human being to be more important than playing the role society has handed her. Director Lillian King says, "It is this slow awakening of a young wife and mother that has fascinated me for the past ten years, since my first encounter with this play as a freshman in college. In this production I hope to bring that journey to life, including an exploration of how Nora is complicit in playing her role, at times, even creating her own cage. Underneath the trappings of this, one of the first, modern, domestic dramas, there is a beating human heart trying to discover and free itself, and that is something we all fight for every day."Running time: 2 hours, 30 minutes, with one intermission. Directed by CFA MFA Directing candidate Lillian King and translated by Rolf Fjelde. No reservations necessary for this FREE event.
