Sinographic Spheres Workshop

Join us for a workshop that strategizes about the future of cultural heritage in the East Asian region, the traditional “Sinographic Sphere.” It brings together 11 scholars and students working across China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and we decided to adopt an experimental format of “collective brainstorming” on the state of the field and action items to further build the emerging comparative study of traditional East Asia. Thus, the workshop is not centered around particular papers, but small “pepp statements” and ample time for debating issues around cultural heritage and classical traditions in our (strongly nationalistic) present and the (perhaps better?) future on the example of East Asia.
