When: Tuesday, February 14th, 12pm-2pm
Where: Mugar Library, Boston University (771 Commonwealth Ave), Admin Large Conference Room
Come join us at Mugar Library to celebrate the 199th birthday of Frederick Douglass and help us transcribe some of the minutes of the 19th-century Colored Conventions.
BU will be joining the Colored Conventions Project (CCP) and scholars across the country in their efforts to transcribe important 19th-century historical documents from US state and national political conventions. To learn more about the CCP and its national celebration of Frederick Douglass and Black History Month, visit www.coloredconventions.org/hbd.
Bring your laptop and help us make this history more accessible! No experience with transcribing is necessary—we’ll help you get started! We will be using Scripto to transcribe, so please create an account ahead of time and we can get started sooner.
Bring your lunch, and leave room for some dessert: birthday cake will be served. This event is free and open to faculty, staff, students, and independent scholars at Boston University and in the Boston area. Please RSVP below so that we know how big of a cake we should get!
For more information about this BU Libraries Digital Scholarship Services’ event, email Eleni Castro: email@example.com. If you do not have a laptop or tablet to bring, contact us, and we will provide one for you to use.
