Boston University Center for Interpreter Education
Boston University Center for Interpreter Education (BUCIE) was established to provide continuing education for American Sign Language/English Interpreters. It is BUCIE’s objective to alleviate the severe shortage of qualified sign language interpreters, in all settings, including post-secondary education. By providing challenging and inventive educational opportunities, which ultimately enhance both discrete skills and holistic techniques, we aim to provide quality providers of interpreting services to D/deaf, hard of hearing and non-deaf persons.
To achieve the highest level of success in the profession of interpreting, it is essential to believe that there is an underlying commitment to the existence of a collective society that recognizes and values the autonomy and contribution of all of its members.
Boston University’s Center for Interpreter Education (BUCIE) fulfills its vision by building leadership capacity from the innate and learned expertise of service providers who work with Deaf and hard of hearing persons.
