Does “eating healthy” make you think of counting carbs and chewing cardboard sandwiches? Then you haven’t tried the terrific entrees, pizzas, soups, salads, and desserts of BU’s unique Sargent Choice program. Fortunately, you can—all over campus at any meal of the day—thanks to a tasty collaboration between BU Dining Services and the College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College.
The program’s primary goal is to help young adults establish healthy eating habits for life. Since 2005, our chefs, managers, and staff have worked with registered dietitians and nutrition students from the Sargent College BU Sargent Choice Nutrition Center, creating and testing recipes that follow the latest evidence-based nutritional guidelines. The results are some of the most popular menu items on campus, from Moroccan chicken to shrimp pesto pizza to our favorite peanut butter cookies. And because we’ve already done the nutritional math, all you have to do is eat and enjoy.
Sargent Choice options are made with whole grains, more fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, lean proteins, heart-healthy oils, and an extra measure of flavor. They’re available in all campus dining rooms and retail locations. To learn more about the program, menu items, and nutritional basics, please visit the Sargent Choice website.
