BU Dining is committed to procuring environmentally responsible products. Impactful procedures to reduce energy consumption, utilize energy-efficient cooking and storage equipment, reducing water use, and modeling behaviors, BU Dining continues to foster methods such as:
- Leveraging best practices identified by the Green Restaurant Association and earning certification.
- The George Sherman Union Food Hall, Bay State Underground, Fuller’s Pub, Granby Commons, Marciano Commons, School of Law Café, Warren Towers, and West Campus are all Certified Green Restaurants.
- Grant preferential priority to sourcing Energy-Star production, storage, and cleaning equipment.
- Use low-flow sinks and nozzles.
- Use compostable or recyclable packaging.
- Use only Green Seal-certified napkins made of 100% recycled content in all dining halls, catering, and retail locations.
- Purchase only Green Seal-certified cleaning supplies and dish detergents
- Use office paper of at least 50% recycled content.
- Certify Dining Services’ offices through BU Sustainability’s Green Office Program.
