About the Program
How does the program work?
After completing your registration for the Student Discount Program (SDP), you will attend your free initial appointment. At this appointment our providers will determine your treatment needs. They will discuss their recommendations with you, but there is no obligation to continue. Any treatments you receive in our pre-doctoral patient treatment centers will be discounted by 10% for one year.
When is the program year?
In general, participants can enroll at any time unless otherwise stated on the Register page. Your participation will be valid for 365 days from the date of your registration for the SDP.
Who provides my care?
When you register for the SDP you will be treated at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) by highly trained dental students under the supervision of licensed dentists. The SDP has the benefit of offering dental care at a lower cost than in most private offices but will require a greater time commitment on the part of the patient.
How do I make my first appointment?
Once registered for the program, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions. A Patient Coordinator will contact you to arrange your initial appointment. If you have any questions regarding this assignment or appointment, please contact us at 617-638-4700, Option 2. Also, please note that you must bring your student ID with you to this first appointment.
Your first visit, which will probably take an hour and a half, will include a thorough examination and radiographs (if needed). In most cases, a cleaning will be performed in a follow-up visit. If you had dental radiographs (X-rays) made within the past 12 months, you are encouraged to bring them with you to your first appointment.
If you are being seen by a physician or have a medical condition that requires special attention during your dental treatment, we may need a letter from your physician to help us provide you with the highest quality care.

What are the patient treatment center’s hours?
