Thank you for your interest in the Student Dental Plan. Registration is closed for the 2011–2012 Student Dental Plan.

About the Plan

How does the plan work?

This is an optional, prepaid plan—you register for the year and a number of services are covered. There are no co-payments, deductibles, yearly maximums, or claim forms. The registration fee is non-refundable.

When is the plan year?

The plan year covers the period from February 1, 2012 through August 31, 2012. We will make every effort to complete your care before the plan year ends, however, all treatment may not be finished by August 31. If this happens you will have the option to re-enroll (if still a student) or continue your care here at regular, affordable school rates.

Who provides my care?

When you subscribe to the Student Dental Plan you will be treated at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine by highly trained dental students under the supervision of licensed dentists. The plan has the benefit of offering dental care at a lower cost than in most private offices but will require a greater time commitment on the part of the patient.

How do I make my first appointment?

We will contact you to make your first appointment. If you do not hear from a student doctor within three weeks of the date you sign up, please call 617-638-7559.

Your first visit, which will probably take an hour and a half, will include a thorough examination and radiographs (if needed). In most cases, a cleaning will be performed in a follow-up visit. If you had dental radiographs (X-rays) made within the past 12 months, you are encouraged to bring them with you to your first appointment. If the faculty dentist determines that additional radiographs are required for covered services, those radiographs will be made at no additional cost.

If you are being seen by a physician or have a medical condition that requires special attention during your dental treatment, we may need a letter from your physician to help us provide you with the highest quality care.

Where will I receive care?

Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine is an international leader in dental education and patient care. Our facility is located at 100 East Newton Street in Boston’s South End and is easily reached by mass transit. Call us at 617-638-4698 to arrange a tour.

What are the Dental Health Center’s hours?

All appointments for initial routine dental visits are scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may also schedule appointments Monday through Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. The summer schedule may vary; call 617-638-4700 for hours.
