In the past two decades the field of endodontics has seen numerous advances, the scope of which have reached all facets of endodontic treatment in both conventional and surgical aspects. This change could not be more evident than in the field of surgical endodontics, where both theoretical and practical aspects have completely transformed. These technological advances have introduced new instruments and materials that did not exist before and revolutionized the way surgical endodontic treatment is performed. The purpose of this combined didactic and hands-on course is to present the current standards and techniques in performing apical surgery using the surgical operating dental microscope.

Course objectives:

  • Diagnosis, case selection, and treatment planning of endodontic microsurgical cases
  • Comprehensive understanding of the current principles of endodontic microsurgery
  • Microscope and patient positioning for optimal direct view of the surgical field
  • Performing all aspects of apical surgery using the microscope and microsurgical instruments on a manikin mounted surgical typodont
  • Handling and placement of biocompatible retro-filling materials like Mineral Trioxide Aggregate and Bioceramics

Lunch and free parking will be provided.
