Entering DMD Student Requirements

Offers of admission into the DMD program are provisional, based on completion of all acceptance and enrollment requirements. These requirements include, but are not limited to, receipt of a satisfactory criminal background history report, satisfactory dean’s certification, completion of all prerequisites, and official degree-conferring transcript.

To accept an offer of admission, entering students must complete the acceptance form included in their acceptance packets. If a new copy of the form is needed, students should contact the Admissions office.

Official Final Degree-Granting Transcript

Entering students must earn the bachelor’s degree and complete prerequisite courses prior to matriculation. An official, final bachelor’s degree-granting transcript must be submitted to Admissions prior to matriculation.  If you were enrolled in another degree program prior to dental school, you also must submit the official, final degree-granting transcript for that program of study prior to matriculation into the dental program.

Incoming Health Requirements

All enrolling students submit mandatory health and immunization information to Student Health Services. All dental students must be in clinical compliance status as determined by Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston University Student Health Services, and state and local requirements.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires all health care students to be immunized against hepatitis B or provide serologic proof of immunity. Hepatitis B immunization requires a three-dose regimen of vaccine, which must be completed prior to matriculation. Evidence of inoculation (all three doses) must be provided at matriculation.

International Student Documentation

Following enrollment confirmation, accepted foreign nationals submit personal and financial documentation to Admissions when requested, via the Applicant Gateway Collect Document activity. Admissions will review your documents and forward them to the Boston University International Students & Scholars Office (ISSO).  ISSO then produces the appropriate document to enable entering international students to apply for a student visa, if required.  Canadian students must obtain the immigration document from the ISSO but do not require a visa to study in the USA.

BU Computing Account

Entering students will be given instructions on creating a Boston University computing account. The Boston University account and Boston University email are required for a variety of important processes and should be set up as soon as available.
