GSDM Team Delivers Oral Health Care to Hundreds in Guatemala

In January 2014, hundreds of people living in the remote municipality of Poptun, Guatemala, received critically needed oral and dental care from a team of Boston University Henry M. Friedman Addresses Elder Oral Health in Rhode Island

In about 15 years, there will be more than 72 million older adults in the US, and most won’t have access to dental care, according to Oral Health America. Brattain and Smauder Win Competitive ADA Student Scholarships

The American Dental Association Foundation (ADAF) recently awarded two DMD 16 students—Andrew Brattain and Casey Smauder—ADA Foundation Scholarships. Smauder received the Predoctoral Dental Student Scholarship and Brattain received the Underrepresented Minority Dental Student Scholarship. Schools may submit one application per scholarship program for about 25 awards. On Saturday, February 8, 2014, Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) students volunteered at the annual Tet in Boston festival at Carson Place-Boston Teacher’s Union in Dorchester. Around 1,700 people attended the event.
