When I first joined the School, I was Director of the Dental Auxiliary Utilization (DAU) and Training in Expanded Auxiliary Management (TEAM) Programs. I later became Director of Geriatric Dentistry. Some of my fondest memories are of working with fourth year dental students in a simulated private practice setting on the 7th floor, with a team of talented and committed assistants, hygienists, EFDAs, and front office staff. We had fun together! I also enjoyed going out on home visits to frail homebound elders with third and fourth year dental students. I remember that, after those visits, students would sometimes share with me that they were apprehensive about participating in that experience, but that it turned out to be one of the most satisfying professional experiences that they’d had.
