I am very pleased that after a yearlong collaborative process we recently finalized our Applied Strategic Plan and hosted a kick-off event for the beginning of implementation. In this report you will find an overview of the process used to develop our ASP and details on the extensive amount of effort and consideration that was involved in creating this plan. You will also read about the ten goals that have been established and the related objectives that have been developed in order to achieve those goals. An Implementation Team, led by Dr. Paula Friedman, is identified within the report, details are provided about the implementation process, and “Champions” are identified for each of the goals. I have charged these “Goal Champions” with ensuring that our ASP is implemented successfully and that we ultimately become the premier academic dental institution promoting excellence in dental education, research, oral health care, and community service to improve the overall health of the global population. I could not be more confident about our future and I thank each of you for participating in this process through “Shadow Teams” and focus groups over the past fourteen months.
I am also pleased to present the 2011-12 Annual Report. Within this report you will find news about our School, our faculty, staff and students, the important research being conducted, and our work in the community. I hope you are as pleased as I am with all that we have accomplished during this past year.
