Over 80 family, friends, faculty, staff, and community members from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) gathered to celebrate the graduating residents of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 33 Harry Agganis Way on the Charles River Campus of Boston University.
The 2017 Pediatric Dentistry graduates were Dr. Yasmin Alayyoubi, Dr. Hanadi Alwafi, Dr. Alison Brienza; Dr. Dina Ghaly-Habib, Dr. Norma Herrera, Dr. Yu Ong, Dr. Tarun Padmani, Dr. Solmaz Shir, Dr. Vani Takiar, and Dr. Carlos Valenzuela.
The evening’s program consisted of a cocktail hour, dinner, and the presentation of certificates to the graduates as well as remarks from several people who are instrumental in the Pediatric dentistry program at GSDM.
After welcoming remarks from Dr. Athanasios Zavras, Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter provided congratulatory remarks to the graduating residents, as well as the faculty and staff for their outstanding support of the residents, the program, and the School. Other speakers during the program included; Dr. Wendy Cheney, Clinical Professor and Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Pediatric dentistry; Dr. Porshe Jumlongras, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric dentistry; Yolanda Cruz, Dental Assistant Supervisor at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center; Dr. Susan Lo, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry; Dr. Jayapriyaa Shanmugham, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric dentistry; Dr. Gerald Finkelstein Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatric dentistry; Dr. Minoo Chaichian, Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatric dentistry; Dr. Michelle Anderson of Massachusetts General Hospital; and Keena Banda, Office Manager at Franciscan Children’s, also were asked by Dr. Zavras to provide remarks to the graduating Class of 2017.
