Embracing the spirit of Halloween, the Staff Forum at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine hosted the second annual Staff Forum Halloween Party on October 30, 2014. The party provided an opportunity for staff members to gather together, meet new faces, and foster a sense of community between departments. Costume contest co-winner Equipment Technician Roger Reizovic—dressed as a Ghost Buster—protected partygoers by keeping pesky apparitions at bay.

Revelers gathered in room 302 for a fun-filled hour of sandwiches, salad, cupcakes, and Halloween themed music, including a music video of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. The main feature of the affair was a costume contest where winners received gift cards as prizes. Staff Forum representatives voted on the winners.

Tied for first place, for the second year in a row, were Reizovic and Lab & Gold Coordinator Laila Irqsusi as the evil child-doll of horror flicks, Chucky. Clinic Care Supervisor Emily Regan and Administrative Coordinator Erin Bastyr took second place with their twin Waldo and Wenda costumes. In third place, were Patient Coordinator Latoya Johnson as the Blue Power Ranger and Data Manager/Analyst Christina Gebel as Cora from the hit show Downtown Abbey. Other costumes included Harry Potter (Central Sterilization Manager Sarah Irias), an owl (Supply Store Assistant Kimberly Whitaker), the Devil (Clinical Assistant Rebecca Johnson), and a marathon runner (Financial Services Coordinator Larissa Weiner).

The Staff Forum was created under Goal 6 of the Applied Strategic Plan, which seeks to “Sustain an environment of mutual respect and a strong sense of community and ownership.” One of the ways the Staff Forum has contributed to this goal and foster a sense of community is through annual events such as the Halloween Party.

With more than twice the attendance of the event last year, the party was hailed as a success.
