Researchers Worldwide Convene at AADR
The American Association for Dental Research (AADR) held its 43rd Annual Meeting & Exhibition, in conjunction with the 38th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association of Dental Research (CADR), March 19–22, 2014, in Charlotte, North Carolina. This scientific meeting provided scientists and researchers throughout the world with the opportunity to present, discuss, and critique their investigations. Faculty, staff, and students of Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) represented the School in strong attendance, with a booth that attracted faculty and students from all over the world and 30 presentations by GSDM researchers.
“GSDM was a very active participant in the AADR meeting with excellent presentations by our faculty and students, a well-attended university reception, and a booth in the exhibit hall,” said Dr. Kukuruzinska, Associated Dean for Research. “Our high profile presence showcased research at the School to the wider dental community and highlighted our commitment to promote continual scientific discovery and scholarship through outstanding research.”

Faculty presented invited symposia lectures and presentations. They included: Dr. Salomon Amar, “Omics Application in Oral Health Research and Clinical Practice: Deep Sequencing of the Oral Microbiome-Metagenomics as a Tool in Oral Diagnostics”; Dr. Judith Jones, “Community-Based Presentation for Older Adults”; Dr. Dan Nathanson chaired a session on “Bonding and Adhesion Interfaces”; Dr. Alpert Price, “Venular Expansion is Related to Bone Formation in Sinus Augmentation”; and Dr. Erdjan Salih, “Omics Application in Oral Health Research and Clinical Practice: Proteomic Studies of Oral Fluids in Health and Periodontal Disease”.
“I was delighted to see our students, staff, and faculty representing GSDM research at this important international event,” says Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter. “Collaboration is vital to research and AADR allows for a wonderful exchange of ideas between our researchers and others worldwide.”
GSDM hosted a reception for GSDM and other AADR guests the evening of Thursday, March 20, at the Westin hotel.
