Volunteers show they have SOUL

SOULS-200Suffolk University’s Organization for Uplifting Lives through Service (SOULS) is a fitting name for a group offering health and other services for homeless women. Staff and students of Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) joined the SOULS volunteers at their Health Fair for Homeless Women on Friday, November 15, 2013, at Church on the Hill in Beacon Hill.

Clinical Instructor Dr. Ana Keohane led the group. Three upperclass students worked as screeners as well as oral health promoters: Ingy Alhelawe DMD 15, Mona Haghani DMD 14, and Zara Nensey DMD 14. Courtney Knapik DMD 16 offered oral health education.

They provided several dental screenings but also had the chance to talk to many more of the women who attended the event.

While there, attendees could also find free food and clothes and even enjoy a game of bingo.
