Six staff members at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) recently completed a rigorous program and passed the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE).

The certification process is a two-part program designed for oral and maxillofacial surgery assistants. It is sponsored by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and requires around 36 hours of self-study materials, quizzes, and a two-hour standardized exam.

The following surgical assistants in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery were DAANCE certified: Patricia (Tricia) Dirksmeier, Wendy Little (also the Interim Clinic Manager), Lizzette Maisonet, and Tasha Medellin. At the Boston University Dental Health Center at 930 Commonwealth Avenue, Dental Assistant Latoria Carswell and Senior Assistant Coordinator Joanne Low received their DAANCE certifications.

“It’s a testament to their dedication and hard work,” said Director of the Boston University Dental Health Center at 930 Commonwealth Avenue Margaret Errante. “This achievement demonstrates our School and Dental Health Center’s commitment to excellence.”
