On Thursday, May 30, 2013, the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) held its eighth annual Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) and Post Graduate Operative and Esthetic Program (PGOE) alumni reunion dinner in the Metcalf Trustee Ballroom. Dr. John Ictech-Cassis, Director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program and the Post Graduate Operative and Esthetic Dentistry Program, hosted the event.

The reunion featured both a continuing education lecture and a social networking event for alumni. Guests met and chatted at the cocktail hour, then the 115 attendees enjoyed a dinner featuring guest speaker Dr. Allen Ali Nasseh DDS, MMSc. Dr. Nasseh maintains a private endodontic practice in Boston and holds a staff position in the post-doctoral endodontic program at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. The topic of his speech was, “The Clinical Application of Bioceramic Sealer and Root Repair Material in Endodontics.”

Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter welcomed the AEGD alumni and acknowledged Dr. Cassis; Dr. Dan Nathanson, Chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences & Biomaterials; and AEGD alumni, residents and faculty. Dean Hutter discussed the Boston University One Billion Dollar Campaign, the status of GSDM’s Applied Strategic Plan, and then presented the video commemorating GSDM’s 50th Anniversary.

“Together, we can build on the momentum of a legacy of innovation, fund our proposed new facility, and build a future that is truly great,” said Dean Hutter.

“I was very pleased with the alumni attendance at the eighth annual Advanced Education in General Dentistry and Post Graduate Operative and Esthetic Dentistry Alumni dinner,” said Dr. Ictech-Cassis. He continued, “There was a great energy that filled the room that night and we were very happy to hear how successful our alumni have been in their fields. We are glad they return each year to our special event, and are especially impressed by this year’s record attendance. This is a great stimulus to the School administration and encourages our faculty and staff to continue to do the job they do with the residents each year.”
