T. James Lee DMD 08 Receives Prestigious Frechette Award

At the March 2013 General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) in Seattle, Washington, Dr. Tsung-Lin James Lee DMD 08 received the prestigious Arthur R. Frechette Award for best research in clinical Prosthodontics for his paper, “Compositional Analysis on Mechanical Properties and Biocompatibility of Titanium-Zirconium Alloy,” which he presented at the Session.

The Arthur R. Frechette Research Awards in Prosthodontics is an annual research competition for new investigators sponsored by the Prosthodontics Research Group of the International Association for Dental Research. It is the premier annual award given in the prosthodontics research group. For 2013, a record total of 34 abstracts were submitted in two categories: Biological Sciences and Tissue Engineering (10 abstracts), and Materials Science or Bioengineering oriented protocol (24 abstracts).

Dr. Lee was the winner in the Materials Science/Bioengineering category. Dr. Lee conducted his research together with colleagues at the Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Tokyo Medical & Dental University, Tokyo, Japan.

During a ceremony at the IADR General Session, President of the IADR Prosthodontics Research Group and Chair of Restorative Sciences & Biomaterials Dr. Dan Nathanson presented Dr. T.J. Lee with the IADR Arthur R. Frechette winner’s plaque and monetary prize of $1,000.

Said Dr. Nathanson, “I was so impressed with the quality of Dr. Lee’s research and happy to have a BU alum voted as winner by the judges in the competition.”
