Two GSDM Students Win ADAF Student Scholarships
The American Dental Association Foundation (ADAF) recently awarded scholarships to two Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine students. Benjamin Cooperman DMD 15 is 1 of 31 recipients of the Predoctoral Dental Student Scholarship for this academic year and Matthew Garcia DMD 15 is 1 of 19 to receive the Underrepresented Minority Dental Student Scholarship for 2012–13. Both awards are for $2,500.
The ADAF student scholarships are awarded to ease the burden of professional education expenses for academically gifted students.
On February 27, 2013, the students met with Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter, who said that “it is always great to see Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine students recognized.” Dean Hutter praised the students on their achievement and hard work. He also thanked Student Affairs Coordinator Amy Nelson for facilitating the process from start to completion. Assistant Dean of Students Dr. Joseph Calabrese and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Cataldo Leone were also present to congratulate Cooperman and Garcia.
Both Garcia and Cooperman expressed their appreciation for the support of the School. Cooperman stated, “I’m thankful for the faculty and administration at Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine for helping make this happen.”
