Endodontic Alums Meet in Vegas

endo_alumni_reception-200As the saying goes, “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”—but not when the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine Endodontic Alumni Association hosts its annual Fall Meeting there! The group met from October 3–7, 2012, at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Alum Russ Christensen ENDO 93 organized this year’s meeting, which welcomed 81 guests (51 alumni). The meeting honored the late Joan Schilder, who had passed away just the day before, on October 2, 2012.

There was a mix of education and leisure at the meeting. Days that started with informative presentations ended with a cooking class, Cirque du Soleil performance, or a hike.

Upon greeting guests at a dinner on October 5, Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter recognized several individuals in attendance: Endodontic Alumni Association President Dr. Iman Labib, Dr. Russ Christensen, and GSDM Director of Alumni Relations Stacey Mcnamee. Dean Hutter updated Endodontic alumni on the University’s one billion dollar campaign, which recently entered its public phase during Alumni Weekend.

“The money we raise will be ours to use and will go to the funding of our new facility, along with the establishment of endowed Professorships and Scholarships,” he said. “Your support of this Campaign will be critical to our ability to transform our School as we Choose to be Great.”

Dean Hutter shared additional important updates on the Applied Strategic Plan, Accreditation Site Visit on October 24–26, and the Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of our School by Dr. Henry Goldman.

The Alumni Association sent two current residents to the meeting to present their research to alumni on October 6. Mey Al-Habib and Philip Gauthier, who organized the most recent APICES meeting, discussed their research at GSDM.

The Endodontic Alumni Association is already planning its next Fall Meeting in Quebec City.
