signin-2012-200New DMD and Advanced Standing (AS) students began their first day of school at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) on Monday, July 30, 2012. Students spent the week meeting GSDM faculty, staff, and fellow classmates and learning about the School and the exciting path ahead.

On Monday, students signed into orientation and enjoyed a breakfast in Hiebert Lounge. Later that morning, in Bakst Auditorium, Dean Hutter introduced the speakers for the day, including: Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Cataldo Leone, Associate Dean for Clinical Services, Dr. Stephen DuLong, Associate Dean in the Office of Advanced Education and International Programs, Dr. Thomas Kilgore, Director of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs, Dr. Larry Dunham, Associate Chair of the Department of General Dentistry and Director of Restorative Dentistry, Dr. Celeste Kong, Assistant Dean for Admissions, Ms. Catherine Sarkis, Faculty Liaison to the Advanced Standing Program, Dr. Janet Peters, and Assistant Dean of Students, Dr. Joseph Calabrese.

Ms. Sarkis said, “We are so happy to welcome you to the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Each one of you was determined to have exceptional potential. I look forward to knowing you as a student and seeing you grow as a professional.”

As in past years, new pre-doctoral students were able to vote on their scrub colors. There were five colors to choose from (red, khaki, olive green, ceil blue, and cocoa). Choices were modeled by five DMD 14 students in an impromptu fashion show. The AS class of 2014 selected ceil blue and the DMD class of 2016 selected olive green.
