Dr. Friedman Hopes to Build Bridges as New MDS President

PKF-2012Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Professor Paula K. Friedman became president of the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) on May 18, 2012. She is one of five new officers elected at the MDS Annual Session in Burlington.

Dr. Friedman says she hopes to use her time as president to build bridges—between MDS and its members, among dental professionals, and with other groups that promote oral health as part of overall health.

She also hopes to grow leadership opportunities for new dentists and those in underrepresented groups such as female dentists and dentists from all ethnicities, races, and religions.

She is past president of the American Dental Education Association and a member of Massachusetts Dental Society’s District Geriatric Committee.

Dr. Friedman received a M.S. in dentistry at GSDM in 1988 and a master’s degree in public health at Boston University School of Public Health in 2000. She earned her doctor of dental surgery degree from Columbia University in 1974.
