Notes from the IADR/AADR General Session

The IADR/AADR General Session was held in San Diego from March 16 to 19. If you weren’t able to attend, here’s what you missed:

Center for Anti-Inflammatory Therapeutics Director Dr. Salomon Amar received a Distinguished Scientist Award for Research in Oral Biology. The award is supported by Church & Dwight Company, Inc. and is given annually for outstanding research in any field of oral biology.

Instructor Brenda Heaton received an IADR/Philips Oral Healthcare PRG Young Investigator Research Grant. The grant will support her research titled, “Evaluating the Impact of Partial-Mouth Recordings in Studies of Oral-Systemic Disease Association.”

Ms. Heaton is very pleased to receive this grant award, because as she explains, “My proposed work is epidemiologic in nature and the interests of this group have primarily been in the basic sciences.” She will collaborate with a center at the University of Birmingham and the grant includes funding of her travel to England to oversee the work.

Chair and the Herbert Schilder Professor in Endodontics Dr. George Huang served as Organizer and Chair of two Symposia and Chair of Periodontology & Oral Biology Dr. Frank Oppenheim was a keynote speaker at the Session. Full details available here.
