We are actively recruiting typically-developing deaf children of Deaf parents between the ages of 4-8 at the following schools:
- The Learning Center for the Deaf
- Rocky Mountain Deaf School
- Atlanta Area School for the Deaf
- Metro Deaf School – Minnesota North Star
It is very important that both children with autism and children who do not have autism participate in the study. If you are the Deaf parent of a child enrolled at one of the schools listed above, please consider allowing your child to participate in the study, even if he/she does not have autism. This will allow us to compare children with autism to typically-developing deaf children, so that we can better understand how autism affects ASL acquisition.
All parents of participating children must fill out a screening form and an informed consent form prior to the study. These forms will take approximately 20-30 minutes to fill out. We appreciate your time in supporting this important research.
