Pankaj Mehta's Lab

My group is interested in theoretical problems at the interface of physics and biology.

We want to understand how large-scale, collective behaviors observed in biological systems emerge from the interaction of many individual molecular elements, and how these interactions allow cells to perform complex computations in response to environmental cues. We are particularly interested in the systems biology underlying cellular identity.

To this end, we are developing new theoretical and computational approaches to rationally design direct differentiation and direct conversion protocols to novel cell types
