Molly Collins, SED’ 94,’04 won the International Reading Association’s 2005 Outstanding Dissertation of the Year Award for penning “ESL Preschoolers’ English Vocabulary Acquisition from Storybook Reading.”

, SED’01,’02 will be enrolling in International Education Policy Ph.D. program this fall at the University of Maryland.


Sister Marylousie Fennell
, SED’76 was asked to join the Boston University Alumni Council. Dr. Fennell has graciously accepted this nomination.

Laurie L. Hazard, SED’90,’97 published her first book, “Foundations for Learning” with co-author Jean-Paul Nadeau. Written for college students, this book encourages students to take responsibility for their education.

Ryan Hoyt, SED '01 has earned a Master of Education from Cambridge College.  Since graduating from BU, Ryan has worked for the Waltham Public Schools where he teaches fifth grade at the Northeast Elementary School.  Ryan serves on the executive board of the Waltham Educators Association, and he is the co-chairman of the MTA's New Teacher Committee.  He resides in Waltham.

Michelle C. (Winterer) L’Etoile, CAS’93, SED’96 became the Director of Admissions at the New England School of Law in December 2004 after serving eleven years as the Assistant Director of Admissions at the Boston University School of Law. Her and her husband, Albert L’Etoile, SED’93 celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in August 2005.

Michele Kaplan, SED’99 will be attending Monmoth University in New Jersey this fall where she will pursue a Master's Degree in Psychological Counseling.

James Ortiz, SED’86 President of Southern Maine Community College will be receiving the Portland (Maine) Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Community Leaders Award in September 2005.
