Film presented to Social Work/Special Education students Nov. 3
Independent filmmaker and former School of Education Professor Anelisa Garfunkel will present her film “One Hundred Steps” to current and prospective students of the dual degree program in Social Work and Special Education on November 3.
“One Hundred Steps” tells the story of Garfunkel’s father who suffered a catastrophic accident and found himself battling his way through pain, despair, and hospital policy. Garfunkel was a special education professor at Boston University and a staunch advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities prior to her father’s accident. She was one of the driving forces behind the development of the dual degree program in Social Work and Special Education at BU. “One Hundred Steps” will be presented on November 3 at 7 p.m. in the Pi Lambda Theta Room (Room 250) at SED.
