Ronald B. Corley, Ph.D.

Associate Director, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories

Ronald B. Corley is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Microbiology at Boston University School of Medicine and Associate Director at the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories. 

Dr. Corley has a long standing interest in basic aspects of the immune system, including how endogenous viruses interact with host cells, how antibody assembly is accomplished, and in elucidating how antibodies serve both innate and adaptive functions in the immune system. Dr. Corley has published almost 100 papers, book chapters and books relating to this work during his career. In addition to his position as Associate Director at the NEIDL, Dr. Corley serves as Director of the Immunology Core.

Dr. Corley received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Duke University, served as a Member of the Basel Institute of Immunology in Basel, Switzerland, and on the faculty of Duke University School of Medicine prior to coming to Boston University in 1994.

Dr. Corley has served on numerous study sections and review panels at the national level, including at the National Institutes of Health and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His research has been funded by private foundations and federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health.
