John R. Murphy, Ph.D.
Associate Director for Scientific Programs, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
John R. Murphy, Ph.D., is a Professor of Medicine, and Microbiology and Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. He is also Associate Director for Scientific Programs for the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories.
Dr. Murphy is internationally recognized for his research in the field structure function relationships and gene regulation of bacterial protein toxins, particularly the diphtheria toxin. Dr. Murphy has authored more than 180 scientific publications, is the recipient of the Pierce Immunotoxin Award, and has served on numerous study sections and panels at the national level. His research has been continually funded by the National Institutes of Health for more than 30 years.
