Joanne Wilkinson, MD, MSc, is the Associate Director of Predoctoral Education. She graduated from Brown University, Brown Medical School, and did her residency at Brown/Memorial Hospital of RI. She spent six years in private practice in RI and was a clinical assistant professor of Family Medicine at Brown. In 2006 she completed a two-year faculty development fellowship at Boston University, focusing on research. Currently she divides her time equally between predoctoral education (teaching preclinical medical students and serving as faculty advisor to the FaMeS program and the Family Medicine Interest Group), research (focusing on the primary care of adults with intellectual disabilities) and clinical work at the Yawkey ACC practice. She also teaches the department's Narrative Medicine elective. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, rowing, and hiking with her husband, who is an adjunct professor of music history in the Boston area.
