Facilities

The Department of Earth Sciences is committed to providing modern geological and geochemical laboratory facilities for use in undergraduate and graduate research. The facilities available in the department play a critical role as part of research projects supported by the National Science Foundation, Ocean Drilling Program/Integrated Ocean Drilling Program, U.S. Geological Survey, Sea Grant, Petroleum Research Fund, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the National Park Service. The facilities are also used by other researchers in the New England region.

Many of the laboratories operate on a charge basis, with a variable fee structure designed to encourage use by the Boston University community and researchers from other universities and research laboratories. If you are interested in using these facilities, please contact Dr. Joel Sparks, Laboratory Manager, or Kathy Milidakis, ICP Laser Ablation Specialist.
