Studying Earth Science is, in many ways, akin to learning a new language. The Earth preserves a record of its past, its current state, and even hints about its future. By learning the language of geology, oceanography, geochemistry, and geophysics, anyone can understand for themselves what the Earth has to say.
The undergraduate program in Earth Sciences is comprised of several concentration options. Each concentration is tailored to provide students with a solid understanding of the processes that have shaped the Earth, how to unravel Earth history, and, in some cases, how to predict its future.
The undergraduate program in Earth Sciences totals approximately 50 major concentrators and 20 minor concentrators. Recent Earth Sciences graduates have gone on to careers in academia, environmental consulting, teaching, public policy, geoscience research, medicine, law, and outdoor pursuits. All share a strong background in the sciences, a responsibility to the environment, and a deep interest in the complex processes that shape our planet.
