Faculty Positions
The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Boston University (BU) is seeking candidates for several anticipated faculty positions at all ranks in computer systems and networks, information sciences, photonics, solid-state devices and nanostructures, and related areas. The Department is seeking to foster growth in the broad, interdisciplinary topics of energy, health, and communications; candidates with research interests that transcend the traditional boundaries of ECE are strongly encouraged to apply.
ECE at BU is a world-class, progressive department with excellent resources that is steadily gaining national and international prominence for its exceptional research and education record. ECE is part of BU's rapidly growing and innovative College of Engineering, and currently consists of 44 faculty members, 200 graduate students, and 250 BS majors. Outstanding collaboration opportunities are available with nationally recognized medical centers and universities/colleges, nearby research centers, and industry throughout the Boston area. Joint appointments with other BU departments and with the newly formed Divisions of Material Science & Engineering and Systems Engineering are also possible.
Qualified candidates must possess a relevant, earned PhD, and have a demonstrable ability to teach effectively, develop funded research programs in their area of expertise, and contribute to the tradition of excellence in research that is characteristic of the ECE Department. Staff Positions
All staff (administrative and technical) positions are
hired through the Boston
University Office of Human Resources.
Student Positions
The ECE Department sponsors a number of Graduate Research
Assistant (RA) and General Teaching Fellowship (GTF) positions
each year. RA postions are normally funded through an individual
faculty member who should be contacted for the availability
of a position in the area of his/her research. GTF Positions
are normally funded through the department and the Associate
Chair for Graduate Studies should be contacted for the availability
of such positions. Students who are seeking RA and GTF positions
may also inquire through the Academic Programs Administrator
for availability.
Undergraduate and graduate students within the department
may also be hired to fill hourly positions such as grader,
lab assistant, lab monitor, teaching assistant, and Undergraduate
Teaching Fellowship (UTF) positions. Undergraduate students
may also be eligible for the Undergraduate
Research Opportunity Program (UROP) and the Supplemental
Undergraduate Research Funds Program (ENG-SURF).
Post-doctoral posts (Research Associates) and sabbatical/visiting
scientist positions are funded through faculty sponsors
who should be contacted for the availability of such positions.
