Mentoring
Graduate students in BME benefit from a very effective mentoring system. During the summer before they begin their studies, students are assigned an academic advisor, selected from the primary BME faculty based on common research interests and other factors. The academic advisor helps students in selecting courses and rotations.
Just as important, students are assigned student mentors during the summer before they matriculate. Student mentors are chosen from among current graduate students, based on research interests and other factors. Student advisors are helpful in helping new matriculants with advice in selecting courses and rotations, as well as advice in finding apartments. Our matriculants find it very helpful to have a friend in town the day they arrive!
