Fellowships Associated with Interdisciplinary Training Programs

BME has three interdisciplinary training programs for Ph.D. students. Students in these programs receive their Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, but each program is tailored for specific training goals.

  • The Program in Quantitative Biology and Physiology, sponsored by support to BME from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is designed to develop researchers who can identify and solve crucial problems in biology and physiology using an integrative approach, with emphasis on quantitative and computational methods. Fellowships for these students last up to two years. Participating departments include BME, Biology, and Mathematics.
  • The Program in Biomolecular Pharmacology, sponsored by the NIH, offers students the unique opportunity to obtain state-of-the-art training in both Biomedical Engineering and Molecular Pharmacology. Fellowships last up to two years. Participating departments include BME and Pharmacology.
  • The Program in Mathematical and Computational Neuroscience, sponsored by the Burroughs-Wellcome Foundation, is designed to enable students from quantitative backgrounds to apply their skills in the field of Neuroscience. Participating departments include BME, Biology, Mathematics, and Psychology.
