Galina Ulanova: Prima Ballerina
This exhibition features photographs and memorabilia chronicling the legendary career of one of Russia's great ballerinas, Galina Ulanova.
This collection of photographs and other items regarding Russian ballerina Galina Ulanova was donated to the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center, Boston University, by Tamara Bogdanova Vapnik in April 2010. The collection, assembled over the course of several years, was given in recognition of Ulanova's centenary. Tamara Vapnik, a ballerina of the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) Mariinksy Theater, performed with Ulanova throughout 1943 to 1960, in Giselle, The Fountain of Bakhchiserai, Sleeping Beauty, and other ballets. She also performed along with Ulanova in the 1954 film Masters of Russian Ballet. The collection is presented in collaboration with the Educational Bridge Project, a Boston-based not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting Russian-American cultural exchanges.
Located in the Gotlieb Memorial Gallery on the first of Mugar Memorial Library. The Exhibit can be viewed during regular library hours.
