BETTY BUCKLEY: Performance From the Heart

This exhibition documents the career of actress-singer Betty Buckley, from her beginnings as a young beauty pageant contestant - she was "Miss Fort Worth," runner up in the Miss Texas Pageant - through her impressive, dynamic and diverse career on Broadway (Pippin in 1973, CATS in 1982, Sunset Boulevard in 1994 and Triumph of Love in 1997); television and film (Eight is Enough in 1979. Tender Mercies with Robert Duvall in 1982); and on the concert stage. The exhibition is built upon photographs and programs as well as other material related to her various projects: her actor's notebook from the rehearsal process of Sunset Boulevard, a sheet of typewritten lyrics to a song written by Ms. Buckley herself, and a collection of notes and letters to her from other famous "divas:" Patti Lupone, Glenn Close, and Elaine Paige. There is even material from the short-lived musical version of the horror classic Carrie, which opened on Broadway May 12, 1988 and closed May 15th after five performances.
