Jules Massenet: A Centenary Tribute


This single-case exhibition marks the centenary of French composer Jules Massenet's death (August 13, 1912). Included in the exhibition is a double page of musical manuscript, in Massenet's own hand, from his opera, Herodiade: a passage sung by Salome in the first act. There is also an autographed, inscribed photograph of the composer, dated 1903, and a sumptuous monograph: MASSENET: L'HOMME - LE MUSICIEN, published in Paris in 1908. The items are all from the Paul C. Richards Collection.

Located in the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center on the fifth floor of Mugar Memorial Library. The Exhibit can be viewed during Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, following the University calendar.
